Another season of the Last Great Race is quickly approaching, and Regal Air is gearing up for the Iditarod Season. This year is sure to be a thrilling race, with many newcomers and many returning rivalries. The race kicks off in Anchorage March 5th (always the first Saturday in March) with the official restart happening Sunday, March 6th.
Beginning Monday, March 7th, Regal Air will begin offering our day trips to the Rainy Pass checkpoint at the famous Rainy Pass Lodge. This will be a full day adventure with lunch included, be sure to dress warm and bring your camera. We will offer this trip on Monday and Tuesday, and we can also offer overnights at Rainy Pass Lodge on Monday night. After the Monday and Tuesday stops at Rainy Pass we can organize private charters to follow the race through the Alaska Range and on to Nome, or however far our guests would like to travel.
Regal Air will again be operating planes on both wheels and
skis to fully access all the checkpoints in the race.
We are pleased to be working with the Millennium Hotel again, providing the head chef with transportation to Anvik, the first checkpoint on the Yukon River. The first musher to this checkpoint will received a gourmet 10 course meal prepared by the Millennium Hotel, and a cash prize. The Millennium Hotel is the official headquarters of the Iditarod.
