Lake Creek Float Trips are the ultimate adventure. This river is a favorite among river rafters alike. Lake Creek has it all: from fantastic salmon and trout fishing, to a wild ride on class III – IV rapids. The headwater to the float is the spectacular Chelatna Lake tucked into the foothills of Mt. McKinley, and the views of the mountain along the float are almost as spectacular as the fishing.
Starting from Chelatna Lake the Lake Creek River is quite mild but soon becomes swift, rocky, and wild. You will encounter rocks and whitewater on the first stretch, which runs 36 miles and has Class I – III. In the midsection you will hit the rock garden and some very exciting rapids up to Class IV.
Short Float Option: The Lake Creek Float can be shortened by pulling out early at Quiet Lake, or starting from Quiet Lake and Floating to the normal PU location.
